![]() ![]() As the mystery deepens, the novel turns into a tense. The writing was great including good, believable dialogue and short chapters, which I love with thrillers because nothing feels too drawn out or like it’s dragging along. The Couple Next Door, Shari Lapenas 2016 international best-seller, begins as a classic detective story. I will say that the main characters were strongly written and relatable and seemed very human and flawed. Rushing upstairs, Anne and Marco find their baby girl missing, the crib standing vacant with the ugly truth. March 29 (UPI) -Sam Heughan has joined the cast of the Starz series The Couple Next Door. That’s all I will say about the plot of this book because there were so many surprises and twists that I am really afraid to give away any little detail that might spoil a surprise for you while you’re reading it. When the couple returns home after midnight - only thirty minutes since the last check on their sleeping child - the door to their posh New York City brownstone in the well-maintained and quietly wealthy neighborhood stands ajar. The headline that drew readers’ attention to the advertisement was this: “ C ommon sense is not so common.” The quote was attributed to Voltaire. The ad concluded with the statement that “ common sense means getting help from the right source.” The point put to readers was that Weisman & Tesser Associates was that right source. In the Jedition of The Telegraph, Weisman & Tesser Associates placed an advertisement that told readers of the expert guidance in financial investment and planning people could expect from their firm. I don't know exactly what they do - it's something about the perfect tension, perfect amount of surprises, perfect balance between interesting characters and fast-paced plot - but Morgan Rhodes is one of those authors. I started out quite liking Rhodes' Falling Kingdoms series, but I was put off by how derivative the books were (i.e. The need to read on was there, that inexplicable, addictive pull, but I just couldn't ignore that the plot and characters were "borrowed" from other works.
